Community space for all
This conceptual project was developed in collaboration with OKASA (Oklahoma Adaptive Sports Association) to envision a new facility for their organization. OKASA has a mission to develop, sponsor and promote recreational and competitive athletic opportunities for individuals with physical challenges. Sports opportunities include basketball, track and field, swimming, road racing, table tennis, tennis, weightlifting and water sports. The proposed project would allow for community engagement and provide a space to host local, regional and national-level competitions. The universal design-standard facility would provide a means for peer interaction with others who have similar abilities and interests, while developing growing awareness to the general public on the capabilities of the physically challenged. Ultimately, the facility was designed to create a space for the community to gather that serves individuals of all abilities and ages.
