This is an addition to the existing School of Music facilities at Oklahoma City University. The 114,000 SF addition includes rehearsal halls, practice rooms, teaching studios, piano teaching lab, music library, a music listening lab and administrative offices. It also includes a pre-function hall and “black box” theater. The pre-function hall, with adjacent catering kitchen, will provide space for pre-performance gatherings and banquets. Surrounding the new building will be an outdoor performance plaza and a sunken garden terrace, which will provide a quiet refuge for students. The new addition integrates elements of the collegiate gothic architecture of the original campus buildings, in an expressive contemporary design.
